Not Receiving Email

The first thing we always check in this scenario is that you actually should have received some! On a number of occasions we've been asked to investigate email reception issues only to find that nobody had sent the user anything!

What should you check?

  • Mail Account Quota
Is this account within it's allocated quota (the default is 10MB), you can increase the quota under Mail Accounts in your cPanel. The total quota's for all mail accounts must not exceed your storage space (after leaving room for the files you have hosted!).

  • cPanel Account Quota
If your mail account is below it's storage quota, but your entire account is over your allocated storage mail for you will be rejected and returned to sender. In this scenario you either need to decrease your space usage or upgrade your account to the next package by contacting support.
  • User Blocking
If you have one of our spam_box filters enabled, check that the users mail has not been identified as spam and delivered there (also check your spam filters on your local machine as they may have picked up the email).

  • Server Blocking
In an effort to remove as much spam as possible from our servers we reject mails from servers which are known to send spam. These servers are listed in RBL's (Real Time Blocklists) in this situation you should ask the sender to send again from an alternate email address.
